AIrtel DTH: Repeated problems with service

 

Fowwing incident once again illustrates the fact that DTH operators need to educate their ground level service people. You are spending millions on advertisements but you are not understanding the impact of “word of mouth” publicity (good/bad) by your subscribers if you fail to provide even basic service.

 

Message: Need for improvement of custome care service at ground level.

I need your help again, as last time due to your efforts, Airtel did install the digital TV at my home on March 20th 2009, and everything worked fine till August 20th 2009. Now here comes the problem, when my parents went to recharge this account they said our account has negative balance of 1650Rs.

 

On further calls to Airtel customer service from US, it turns out that even when they provided us the service for five months, they never activated our Samsung-Airtel offer. When I gave them the serial number and the pin, customer service guy said that the serial number & pin I gave them were stolen (How can that be???). My parents have the original purchase bill & the card, and we used the same information to start the service at first place.

 

I filed a complain, but no reply from them yet. I would appreciate if you can help us resolve the issue, as we like the service and want to continue with them. But, I do not want to pay for something which they promised (Airtel service for 5 months). I can send you the serial number & pin for samsung offer if you need.

 

Request to Airtel DTH people: You are responding so quickly to customer complaints. Please solve this problem also.

    Sir,

    We took an airtel dth connection about a year back because that was the only dth offering world space satellite radio then. Without any intimation to us they stopped world space and instead offered AIR in which we were not interested. We had no choice other than continuing with the connection because ours is a prepaid connection. Now for the past 8 days we have not been receiving any channel and the tv is showing an error code of 14. Inspite of repeated complaints each time I talk to the call centre they give me a complaint number but the issue has not been resolved. I am unable to go for different connection or cable because this connection is prepaid and my money is still with them.

    I just received a message that the issue has been resolved but nothing absolutely has been done.

    Is it possible to take these guys to the consumer court.

    World Space Radio has closed down transmission in Asia and hence is NOT transmitting to
    any DTH provider.

    Airtel DTH Day by day getting worse .I am facing frequent issues and the worst case is the horrible customer service .Recently half of my channel went blank without error .When I called the customer support , the support engineer simply told he will get it fixed within 5 mnts .I need to switch on my set top box .But after 24 hrs the problem is still exist .Again I called the customer support and repeated once again my issue.I insisted he gives me a service request number and a time of solving it .After much persuasion he finally gave me the service request number (3458937) on 2,Aug.2010. But when I waited till the so called maximum time , now I am facing a fresh issue – No Signal .Again I called up the customer support to be promised back another time .Now I am waiting endlessly with nobody from airtel customer support calling or rectifying .Frankly this is not the first time .And every time the engineers visits your place you are charged a visit charge .I am fed up of airtel and the moment my balance reduces I will go for Videcon or Tata Sky .Good By eAirtel DTH .
