Dish TV Review

 

Dish TV, the direct- to- home service owned by the Zee group, is one of the major service providers in India, and is now offering value added services called mobile active so that the viewers can preview ringtones, wall papers, text alerts and contests on their TV and download it on their mobiles. This has been achieved in collaboration with Indiatimes.com.

 

Although competing with giants like Tata sky, Sun Direct, Videocon, Airtel and Big TV, dish TV has managed to hold a forty percent share of the market with 5.6 million subscribers, according to its Chief operating officer. Both prepaid and post paid home delivery of set top box is available with dish TV. It is feasible to directly order through internet and dish TV connection is obtained in three to five days.

 

Dish TV has joined hands with Monster.com, Shaadi .com and Yatra .com to increase their value added services. Now, dish TV introduces life services by converging the internet, with the television medium. This enables to access all the value added services just by a click of the dish TV remote from the comfort of home.

 

If you have a dish TV, then you need not get up from your seat because the TV banking services allows subscribers to learn all about the ICICI bank’s services such as mandatory documents, loan EMI calculators, current offers, investment updates, interest rate charts and other related information. However, it is not possible to include any transactional facility.

 

Facing stiff competition from Sun direct, dish TV was forced to drop its rates in south India from 2950 rupees to 1990 rupees, plus 200 rupees for installation. Dish TV also offered three benefits to its subscribers under the hat trick offer, giving five leading sports channels, 33 free movies and unlimited gaming for one year.

 

To compensate for the losses incurred, dish TV is planning to boost its base of subscribers by allotting 100 to 125 crore rupees on marketing, brand promotion and customer acquisition initiatives.

    I use them for 3+ years. They do not add new regional channels when they come up. Their customer support is awkward. AMC and service polices are weired.
    Also, they have appointed independent contractor labors to attend, and they try to rob you.

    Registering your complaint would take you at least 7 mins in their IVR system, and all the services are chargeable.

    Stay away from DishTV!

    Indians are Whiners!! Most of the complaints I hear are nitpicking!
    And what the heck is up with Indians and the use of the word “WORST”????

    Everyhting is either “WORST SERVICE” or “WORST CUSTOMER CARE” or “WORST COMPANY” and so on!!! What a bunch of pessimistic whiners!!!

    Who are you to say what Indians are? What has to be optimistic here? Are we fighting for independence so we wait with patience and optimism? We are paying for it and we want what we pay for.

    Now about WORST: We can read, write and speak english much better than you; you try to speak any of our language with similar expertise and then open your mouth

    Bastich, For your information , This is customer oriented market i.e. customers are the king and they dominate the market not the vendors or suppliers gone are those days, Customer Pay for what they want and what they pay for they should get it, Its as simple as that.

    So stop saying Indian customers being pessimist and other crap stuff ,Indian customer as a matter of fact are most aware and consious customers.

    hi this arvind from chennai, i have been using sun direct, and now videocon for the past 5 years together with the cable service, since both the operators are not at all adding new regional channels atleast in 3 months once, i just stopped using sundirect only due to the bad customer care, no proper response, nothing and even charge for calling customer care, do you know guys sundirect customer care is very poor.

    then i purchased videocon dth customer care had been good , but now it had joined with the sundirect as well and it has also been bad customer care always busy busy.

    i just want to say to these dth operators , the dth operators provide good quality of picture and audio, but fails to provide a good customer care and this is the feeling of all dth customers.

    if they improve their customer care, and introduce more and more regional packs and channels , or just divide between states, as mobile services prevail in each state, they cannot gain customers newly.

    Can anyone tell me the current status of different DTH services offered by all providers in India, particularly on HD contenst. Details on following points will be useful for all potential subscribers:

    1. The channels in HD format
    2. whether 1080i or 1080p
    3. True HD or upscaled
    4. features of set box
    5. sound quality- 5.1, 7.1 or lower
    6. recording / replay features of set up box
    7. quality of customer care
    8. if third party set up box can be used

    Information on most home pages is incomplete.

    Please let me know if such recent reviews are already available on any site.

    Dish TV SUCKS!! It is the worst service i have ever taken in my life!! I am warning all you people to never take this connection. They give the worst service and cheat you with your money! the customer service is pathetic – the people who come to service are ill mannered! I changed my STB 10 days back and TV is again not working. Every time i call a customer service they say there is realignment problem and they charge 150 rs per visit! every month i pay this 150 extra! now when i want to discontinue this service they have eaten my money and not willing to return! CONSUMERS Please dont go by these ADS! THE SERVICE IS PATHETIC!

    Airtel DTH TV Sucks. It is the wors service i have ever taken in my life. They give they worst service and cheat you with your money the customer servicde is pathetic. They supplied Stb is always hanging. no signals and damaged my tv’s tube. I have to by new tv from the market.

    DISH TV – POOR & WORST SERVICE

    Most of the time the prescribed channels will not come..if you raise an issue they would charge 150/- +service tax.

    Other major issue please be careful with service engineers who visit your home, they would steal.

    If you still wish to use Dish tv, have atleast couple of people infront of engineers when they are working at your home.

    My advise : STRICTLY NO

    Sun Direct is the Worst of Worst DTH we have ever seen. All my friend circle is blaming them. Their customer support is really WORST, PATHATIC. they will never turn out for your issues.
    IF RAIN COMES THE SERVICE GOES OFF AIR.
    IF THEY CHANGE SATELLITE THEN YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY TUNE IT.

    for each ruppee i paid i got the worst service. and SunTV group should be punished for these kind of services.

    I own two Dish TV HD Connections…service of Dish TV is terrible. I advise all of my friends not to go for this connection. The reasons are: 1. If you have any technical problem, send SMS, operator deduct 3 rupees per SMS. You hardly get call back from DishTV guys. If they dont call you, again you have to spend another 3 rupees. 2. I used to recharge on the last day of every month, in September, I recharged on 1st instead of 31st Aug. The stopped the telecast for 1 day. They deducted Rs.20/- as Grace period charges from the recharge amount I paid on 1st September. From 24th September, my they stopped the telecast and displayed the message to RECHARGE. I checked up on the website, my recharge date is displayed as 29-Sep-2011. Why the hell they stopped telecast for me even when the recharge date is not even near. My wife called them, the answer is “YOU RECHARGE YOUR ACCOUNT”. I called up from USA, I told them recharge date is 29-Sep-2011, they accepted it, but no result, I am not getting the channels even after 3 hours of a call. THEIR POLICY is to DEDUCT Rs.20/- AS GRACE PERIOD CHARGES IF SOME ONE RECHARGE THEIR ACCOUNT JUST AFTER ONE DAY OF THE DUE DATE….IS IT A POST PAID CONNECTION OR PRE-PAID CONNECTION???????

    BASED ON THE ABOVE FACTS, I SAY DON’T GO FOR DISH TV CONNECTION…PLEASES FRIENDS.

    THE CUSTOMER IS THE BOSS IN ANY MARKET, NOT THE PROVIDER.

    I am also fed up from the Dishtv costly services. Few month back, I have recharged the dishtv for 2 months, but unfortunately problem comes hanging problem, so upset, call or email to service centre, but till date no solutions. They solve the solutions by saying that problem in setupbox u have to pay 150+s.t for technician visiting. I disagreed and demand for refund of one month fees, they say that in their policy no refunding. Tell we are the customer, they are not providing me the good services, so customer has right to take back the money.

    Can you please, suggest me the way where to file complaint
